Duggup mobile app: brand splash and a profile screen with posts, answers, and streaks
01 · OverviewWhat this is

Duggup is a knowledge-sharing community for engineers: personalized feeds, community Q&A, challenges, events. I joined as the first design hire and built the product with the founder from an empty Figma file.

The research said engineers were drowning in content but starving for relevance: information overload, career stagnation, fragmented learning, and the isolation of remote work. Every core feature maps to one of those four problems.

02 · The productScreens that shipped
Duggup profile screen Challenges list with 30 days of system design Community event page with speakers and registration Streak heatmaps tracking daily learning activity Create a post flow with challenge attachment Home feed with trending questions and users

Feeds filtered by interests and followed topics. Q&A with content ranking. Time-bound challenges (7 to 100 days) with leaderboards and streak heatmaps that make consistency visible. A WYSIWYG editor for rich posts, community events, and a “Surprise Me” search for serendipity.

03 · The systemOne design, two platforms

Web and mobile shipped in parallel, so I built the design system to keep them in lockstep from day one. The payoff was measured, not felt: testing and redesign time on mobile dropped by half. New features shipped bi-weekly, A/B tested with the developers, tracked in Amplitude against DAU, retention, and session length.

04 · OutcomeWhat changed
  • 5 months to v1.0 launch
  • 2,000 users in the first week
  • -50% testing and rework

Launched v1.0 within five months of the first sketch and kept shipping for two years as the team's founding designer.
